Scott Baggett - Veterinary for Eli

Donation protected
Edit: We have learned that Eli will need to be fed in a Bailey Chair so we have raised the goal to help
purchase it for Scott and Eli.

Friends,  some of you may not be aware but on Saturday January 30th something happened to Scott Baggett's wonderful therapy dog, Eli, that has him admitted to Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital.  On Saturday, Eli was walking, eating, interacting with other dogs like normal while on an outing in Dunedin when all of the sudden he lost use of his back end and was unable to walk.  We lifted Eli and got him in the car and on Sunday he was admited to Blue Pearl as an emergency because the use of his backend got worse overnight.    Eli is less than 2 years old and has been a healthy and happy dog up until this point with no previous issues.  Scott has just received word from Blue Pearl that Eli has a very rare disease called  Myasthenia Gravis (visit http://caninemegaesophagusinfo.com/myasthenia-gravis/  for information).  Eli will need blood tests, expensive medications, multiple examinations by Blue Pearl Neurologists and be closely monitored to try and get this disease under control.  Dogs have been known to go into remission with this disease but that of course is no guarantee.    Remission could take anywhere from 4 months to a year. This has been a tremendously difficult time for Scott and his wife Jean and we are all saying prayers that Eli responds well to medications and treatment will go into remission.

Scott's polio has taken a great toll on him and he has been dealing with the upcoming day when he will need a wheelchair and a wheelchair accessible van.  The expenses for Scott's health issues are astronomical.  To add the cost of  Eli's treatment from the area's best nuerological vets is mind numbing.  Scott has spent years volunteering his time, his energy, his money in helping countless pet therapy teams become registered and I, for one, am all too happy to be able to give back to the man who never asks for helps and is the first one to offer help to anyone who needs it.  Scott needs to spend his energy taking care of his health and polio related problems and on Eli's treament.   To be able to help Scott with the cost of the veterinary bills is a burden lifted off of him so he can continue to to pursue the wheelchair accessible van.   If you feel it in your heart to help the man who has helped so many of us please contribute whatever you feel comfortable giving. Thank you in advance and remember that God spelled backwards is dog and we all know Scott has touched each and every one of us in unique and amazing ways!
