In this one life we get, there are only a handful of people that we love and are loved by unconditionally. We would do whatever we can to make sure they are safe, happy, and loved. My friend and mentor, Daniel Grancea, has been fighting to keep his family together, healthy, and safe. Daniel’s wife, Doina, has had debilitating chronic migraines, myalgia/myositis, and depression.
Suggested by her doctor and disability lawyer, Doina should attend the UPMC Pain Clinic for 8 weeks, twice every week. We're hoping it will lead to a solution to the problem, but to improve her health in any way possibly is something that Daniel has been attempting to achieve for years. Treatment, diagnosis, and future medical procedures are covered under their UPMC insurance, but co-pays at this point are difficult to pay.
After Daniel’s youngest daughter was in a car accident, medical bills and lawyer fees made it difficult for Daniel to just get to work every day. At $40 a visit, twice a week for eight weeks. The initial appointment will cost $120 along with the co-pay. In total, we are looking to raise up to $900 to cover for all co-pays, appointment fees, and misc (parking, emergency, etc.).
The clinic will be starting on December 22nd. As a former rower of Daniel's, I know how much work and heart he puts into his job. I want to be able to help him out as much as he helped me. Thank you so much for taking some time out of your busy schedules.
Update 11/30/2015 @ 6:48PM EST: We've already reached the goal! I spoke with some alumni and I think it would be an amazing thing if we continued with this and see if we could give the Granceas a once in a lifetime holiday gift. We increased the goal!
