Be a part of this healthcare and educational initiative!

Imagine living with very limited access to primary healthcare. In Liberia, with 1 doctor per 100,000 people, this is a reality for most community members, struggling to live past average life expectancies battling everything from basic sicknesses, and colds to the Ebola virus. The good news is: we want to be a part of the change. We want to help make Liberia receptive to better healthcare systems that are self-sustaining and advanced enough to cater to various medical challenges as much as possible. We want to create a system that delivers much-needed healthcare services to residents around the country.

We have seen the power of international coordination and what was accomplished during the Ebola virus crisis, eventually bringing the cases down to zero.

Liberia is in need of:

·         Qualified healthcare workers

·         Available doctors

·         Medical outreach programs

·         Medical education

·         Medical infrastructure

·         Women’s healthcare

The Brooks Community Health Center (TBCHC) will provide a full spectrum of primary healthcare services to all ages in the region. Expected to be established in the outskirts of Monrovia, TBCHC will include an associated pharmacy, laboratory, imaging center, inpatient labor suite, adult literacy center, a Prometric testing center, and the list goes on.

Designed to serve the entire population, our nonprofit organization can’t do it without you.

We are raising money to build the health center, equip it and provide staffing. The clinic will be run by Dr. Jimmette Brooks. Dr. Jimmette Brooks, a current post graduate year 3 family medicine resident at the Robert Wood Johnson/Barnabas Somerset Hospital in Somerville, NJ, is the passionate humanitarian physician behind the conception of TBCHC. After residency, she will be starting a two-year surgical obstetrics fellowship at Clinica Medicos in Memphis, TN. Dr. Brooks was born in Monrovia, Liberia and grew up in diverse places including the United Kingdom, the Ivory Coast and Providence, Rhode Island. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Rhode Island College, followed by a Certificate in Modern Biological Sciences. She is a graduate of the St. George’s University School of Medicine. She is a chief resident physician and also a Ph.D. candidate in public health. Dr. Brooks is currently enrolled in the one-year curriculum of integrative medicine in residency which is done through the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. She is passionate about leveraging her current medical experience in the US and abroad to help improve the lives of individuals in diverse global communities that are in need, by serving these communities on a full-time basis.

Dr. Brooks is an industrious resident physician with strong experience in primary health services. Her vision is our vision: to provide accessible, low-cost, and high-quality healthcare to the citizens of Liberia and beyond, including inpatient support and medical outreach services. “I believe that as global citizens, our health is interconnected, hence, working to improve access to quality health care and education in resource limited countries is a necessity that cannot wait for someone else to do.” “You and I are the change that we all would like to see happen.”

Please donate now to make a difference.  No amount is too little or too large to give. You can also visit our website to donate to this effort or to learn more about our organization. Phase I of the project involves raising $35,000 to purchase the land and pay the architect by December 31, 2018. We have not reached this initial goal and we are still actively raising the funds for this phase. Phase II of the project involves raising $480,000  by December 2019 to build the Community Health Center. Phase III of the project involves raising $1,365,000 to equip, train and staff the community health center which will include an outpatient clinic, inpatient labor & delivery/postpartum/nursery/neonatal ICU/postpartum suite, imaging center, laboratory, prometric testing center. The deadline for phase III of the project is December 31, 2020.

Thanks in Advance on behalf of the TBCHC team!
