Someone shot our town's peacock, and we're raising money as a reward for anyone who has information on who did it. Year after year we've enjoyed watching him, kids have grown up getting to know him, and everyone shares photos of where he is at any given time. He goes by many names - Petey, Mikey, Kevin, Popeye - and for years he has called all of our yards and farms home.
Someone shot this beautiful, amazing, wonderful friend of ours for no reason. The bullet shattered his leg, and our town raised over $1000 to help any vet bills, but his leg was so damaged it could not support the implants necessary to try and save him.
The veterinarian is donating all that money to this fund, and we are asking all of you to help raise more so that we can offer a reward to anyone who has information on the shooter. We are also working with local authorities and attempting to talk to the news about a story.
This is animal cruelty at its worst. But it's also cruel to the kids and families who loved watching him every single day, year after year.
Please donate and help us catch the killer. Any amount will help.
WITHDRAWAL PLANS: The police are investigating the shooting, and based on their input as to witnesses who contributed information that led to identifying the shooter, I will withdraw the money and direct funds to those witnesses. Given that witnesses may wish to remain anonymous, at the request of law enforcement we may not publish names of recipients, but we will post to let the community know that the funds were disbursed. If there are multiple witnesses that contribute information to authorities that leads to identification of the shooter, the funds will be divided equally among them.
If the shooter is not found, these funds will be donated to the Be My Angel Fund to pay for life-saving veterinary services at Saint Francis Veterinary Center of South Jersey, where the peacock was treated.
