Help Greg beat cancer!
Greg Taves is a beloved father, husband, brother, son and friend. He is a wonderful teacher, improving the lives of many young children everyday. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoma Leukemia in 2007, when he was relocated from Albuquerque, NM to Tucson, AZ for their top tier oncology. By Gods grace he was in remission for several years, until he developed a new blood cancer called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) due to his several rounds of chemotherapy in the past. Greg went through several rounds of chemo again, numerous infections and obstacles on the way, and we almost lost him. His brother Steve happened to be an exact match for his bone marrow, and graciously donated that for a stem cell transplant. We were beside ourselves with peace, happiness, gratitude, and rest when his bone marrow biopsy came back clean.
It has been 4 years since his transplant and unfortunately Greg’s oncologists have confirmed his MDS has returned. He has since taken a new job teaching at Leeman academy, and is under a health care provider that is not in network for his usual team of experts at Banner University. It would cost him thousands and thousands of dollars out of pocket to receive the care that he did prior, that ended up saving his life.
This last month he has been battling blood clots and being treated at a small cancer clinic that doesn’t have the expertise to handle his complex case. While we figure out our way through our nations broken health care system, we ask that you bless Greg and his wife Edith with anything you can to help him in paying his medical bills. He will be paying out of pocket for care at Banner until further notice, where a simple bone marrow biopsy could cost him thousands of dollars. Your support can help him on his journey through battling this cancer tremendously. This is a truly challenging time for Greg and his family, with him having been through this twice before. We ask that you pray for Greg’s healing and strength during this time. We believe the power of prayer can move mountains, and we ask that you continue to pray for him as much as you can. We know we can beat this with prayer, positivity and a little help from our friends.
