Taylors' medical issues

I'm Jeanie, I'm 74 years old, and my husband John is 76.

When COVID hit us in Feb of 2020, John was quickly out of work. He had been doing 6-10 seminars per month, and suddenly, ZERO! He started his own webinars online, but hasn't enjoyed a large following at all. He's making just a small fraction of his previous income. Meanwhile I had reopened my music studio just in time to learn to teach music lessons on Zoom, so my small income has continued, with normal seasonal fluctuations, but it is not enough for us to live on!

Somehow, we have survived, but our current medical problems are causing us to sink under:

First, John has a wound on his right leg that won't heal. He has suffered from it since the middle of May. He is getting treatment at Salem Advanced Wound Clinic, and when they did tests last Tuesday, they found blood clots, so he is now on a blood thinner (@$700/mo), along with the $40 co-pays (yes, we are insured, but these co-pays are killing us!) every time he opens their door (2-3 times per week!) plus all the labs and tests and ER visits (4 so far, for his leg). It has totalled thousands of dollars so far!

Second, On Memorial Day weekend I broke my left wrist. Many of you know that I had a stroke in 2013, with paralysis on the right, and although I worked my way out of most of the paralysis, I've never recovered my balance, so I use a walker, but I can't use it now, with a cast on my arm, of course. Again, we have co-pays for ER, Surgery, PT, etc., all summer long, since May 30th! What's worse is our sudden need for personal care, house cleaning, transportation, etc., none of which are covered by insurance. We have no medical VA benefits, because John has no medical issues caused by his service. We just can't take care of ourselves any more, until we get through these medical problems, and we don't have extra funds to pay for needed help. Our savings were decimated months ago, and then some!

Third, I had my first of 2 eye surgeries last week. The $1200 lens was not covered, and again, we have been hit hard with weekly $40 co-pays, plus the 2 surgeries, doctor fees, etc. Good news is, it worked! I can see well enough to read music again, at last. But we are way past our ability to pay, because we have had such a limited income for so long. We thought John would go back to work in September with at least 3 seminars a month, but his sponsoring company decided to postpone reopening again, because of the Delta Variant. Just when we thought we might catch up a little, we get this devastating news!

Fourth, On our way home from the ER last Tuesday, when they discovered John's blood clots, we went to the pharmacy to pick up his meds and were driving along Edgewater, where we stopped at the light at Safeway and were rear-ended!

I was nauseous! It was the final straw for me. We need financial relief! We cannot continue like this! We are at the end of our rope! Please help us out however you can. I realize that all of us are suffering from the extended effects of this virus, but I also know that there are people out there who are still making money, hand over fist, so I'm putting this out there to all of you, in hopes that someone will come to our aid enough to make this whole thing easier for us to bear. We really are sinking under! Please pass this on, especially to anyone you know who might take pity on us and help us get through this rough patch.

Thank you so much!
