Taylor Samson was a Dalhousie Physics Student who was taken from us far, far too soon. His memory lives on, which includes his love for education. In the months preceding his death, Taylor created a tutoring program with the intention of aiding 1st year mathematics and physics majors for free. His classes teaching university level mathematics and physics can still be found on YouTube today. Education was his passion.
In Taylor's name - we have been awarding $1000 a year in the form of a scholarship the last 6 years to Amherst Regional High School - Taylor's high school - to students pursuing sciences at Dalhousie University - with preference given to students interested in Physics.
The Scholarship has been maintained via a couple golf tournaments, proceeds from Kayla Hounsell's book, generous donations, and most recently- a well-attended 30th birthday for Taylor.
Covid shutdowns and movement restrictions significantly hampered fundraising efforts, and there's a need to build our bank account back up.
Your contribution will ensure the longevity and increase the award amount of this scholarship, which lies near and dear to many people's hearts.
If this fundraiser raises $1000 I will bleach my hair for at least a month. If it raises $1500 - I will shave it off.
Edit: we reached our original goal of $1500 5 hours after we posted this, and my head is shaved. We'll keep increasing the goal as every contribution helps us award more money in Taylor's name, and helps open the door to more fundraising efforts.
