The Badass Babes on Bikes Club is looking for the support of the Las Vegas Community to help raise money for one of our own. Taylor Funkhouser, the founding member of the organization, was the victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred on March 31, 2023, where she suffered 2 compound fractures and broke both arms and legs. The driver who hit Taylor was uninsured. Many of the financial responsibilities will fall on Taylor. The doctors believe she won’t be able to walk for several months and will have to undergo rigorous amounts of physical therapy before returning to work.
Taylor is a leader in the Las Vegas Biking community, as she has created a space for women to celebrate biking and support women-owned businesses with The Badass Babes on Bikes monthly rides and events. You may have seen her biking around with Chicken, her Umbrella Cockatoo on her shoulder. She is known for her vibrant personality, the love she spreads to everyone she meets, and her willingness to befriend and help strangers. Taylor has ridden her bike 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles four times, raising over $30,000 for the AIDS/LifeCycle charity. Anyone fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Taylor knows she is a selfless member of our community and is always there for a friend.
Now Taylor needs us.
Taylor’s treatment of care will include her stay at the hospital until her bones heal and her pain is manageable, movement to a rehabilitation center to relearn how to walk, and finally released home where she will need ADA accommodations. In each situation, Taylor will require financial support, as it appears the assailant has no means to pay for the injuries he inflicted on her. In this first round of support, we are looking to raise $5,000 to assist Taylor with the bills accumulated in the first phase of her recovery.
Phase 1 of fundraising has been met with SUCCESS! Thank you all for showing Taylor all the love we have for her. This next round of funding is going towards Taylor's bills during her months of treatment in the rehab facility.
Thank you, family, this means so much to Taylor.
