Hi friends, here is an update on the Norton's, they really need our help! If you're new here, I'll share what's been going on near the end of the post. But first, the update.
In January 2025, Wayne’s foot infection unfortunately came back and his wound began opening up again. Despite immediate treatment, his foot & leg have become a consistent source of pain and discomfort. Per his specialist, he now needs more aggressive treatment.
On February 25, 2025, Wayne will be admitted to the hospital for a series of surgeries. The first two will be to treat the wound and the third will be a near complete reconstruction of his right foot. He will be admitted to the hospital for 7+ days and will be non-weight bearing for the next 6-8 months while he heals for the various surgeries.
Right now, Taylor is the sole income for their family. As a small business owner, the weight and responsibility is immense on the two of them and this fundraiser will help alleviate the burden that this medical journey has created. The funds will go to cover hospital bills, monthly necessities such as rent, insurance payments, car payments, gas and groceries so that Taylor can focus on Wayne and Wayne can focus 100% on healing.
If you're new here, here's the backstory:
On June 3, 2024, Wayne was admitted into the hospital with sepsis and cellulitis from 3 broken bones and an infected diabetic wound that had penetrated the bone and caused him to have 2 seizures. After 9 days in the hospital, including 3 days in the ICU, Wayne was released on home health and the Norton’s began a long road of weekly doctor’s visits, medication and treatment.
Over the course of the last 8 months, Wayne has received 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, 12 placenta grafts, 21 hyperbaric treatments, among many other supplemental treatments.
On November 15, Wayne was terminated from his job despite being on FMLA. With that, his short term disability expired and he no longer qualified for long term disability. They also lost all insurance coverage. Wayne is unable to return to work which has created financial hardship being that he was the main source of income in their home...and that brings us up to date, thanks for catching up!
