Hello friends and family!
As a lot of you know, horse riding and rodeo has always been one of my greatest passions in life because it gives me a chance to learn new things in a way I never thought possible. I have been presented with the amazing opportunity to spend 2 years studying and competing on the College Rodeo Team at North-eastern Oklahoma State University, starting this August. My trip will consist of academic and travel adventures! I will have the opportunity to attend College Rodeos and collect enough points to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo in 2016. I am only one of few Western Australian competitors to ever go to College in the US.
I have been riding horses since before I can remember and started competing at rodeos in WA (breakaway roping, barrel racing and pole bending) on my pony ‘Alice’ when I was able to flap my legs and push her in the right direction! Rodeo then took a turn and has allowed me to travel all over Australia and has given me incredible opportunities throughout my life. Rodeo and horses have taken me to represent WA at the ABCRA National Finals in Tamworth, Sydney Royal Easter Show invitational barrel race, and NRC National Finals Rodeo in Queensland. A major achievement would be winning the National Finals Rodeo in 2013 on ‘Vicki’! With the help of some much loved friends and family members, my horses, and generous companies, I have managed to win over 20 state and national buckles!
Though this is an amazing opportunity for me, it is not possible without over $10,000 in funds. Living in a single parent family, these funds are simply too much for us and it will be impossible for me to chase my dreams without the support of others. I am currently selling everything I own (car, horse, gear) to help my family raise this money.
Any support you can provide is extremely appreciated!
Thanks!
