Tay D’Amour De La Salle Scholarship Fund
As many of you know, Carolyn “Tay” D’Amour left this world on Saturday, December 29th, 2018. Tay taught religion for over 10 years at De La Salle High School in New Orleans, eventually becoming department head. She was a recipient of the Signum Fidei - St. John Baptist De La Salle Distinguished LaSallian Educator Award. Both of her sons, Chris and Todd, attended De La Salle, and her daughter Lisa performed in many plays there. Because of Tay’s love of De La Salle and her passionate commitment to the Lasallian tradition of the Christian Brothers that no one is insignificant and that all young people deserve a quality education, we are working to establish the Tay D’Amour De La Salle Scholarship Fund. All proceeds will be used for the Tay D’Amour De La Salle Scholarship Fund.
The five core values of the Christian Brothers align perfectly with Tay’s values and the way she lived her life:
Faith in the Presence of God
Concern for the Poor and Social Justice
Respect for All Persons
Quality Education
Inclusive Community
Tay was especially passionate about De La Salle’s commitment to welcoming all kinds of learners and students from low income families — the doors are always open at De La Salle. We, Tay’s family, know that she would rejoice in knowing that her legacy might allow more students to experience the generous educational home that is De La Salle.
We know that so many of you loved Tay and want to honor her. As most of you know, she was a highly practical, “let’s do this” kind of woman. So please, honor her deeply and sincerely and take what you would spend on bouquets of flowers and lovingly made casseroles and, instead, consider giving what you can to the Tay D’Amour De La Salle Scholarship Fund.
