Tawnnya and her family face a dire and very uncertain future as she waits for a heart transplant. Recent developments have her admitted to the UCLA medical center in Los Angeles, California, in anticipation of a new heart. We are looking to raise funds to help support her medical needs and recovery as she embarks on yet another uphill climb.

Tawnnya Wolf has been a true pioneer with congenital heart disease for more than 50 years.

Tawnnya was born with Transposition of the Great Vessels and had two open heart surgeries when she was 1 and 3 years old to save her life. At the time, they didn’t have the ability to correct her condition (as they do today) and her heart remains in the Uncorrected Transposition of the Great Vessels. Over the past 10 years, her health has been in a slow, steady decline facing challenges from removing/replacing her Pacemaker and implanting a Pacemaker/Defibrillator (which left her in an induced coma and the ICU for weeks), to enduring several Cardioversions (shocking her out of dangerous heart rhythms), to surviving an Ablation procedure that had complications upon extraction and left her in the ICU for 9 days this past summer, 2022.

After her most recent heart surgery, we learned that Tawnnya is in the late stages of heart failure. There are no other correctable actions to her existing heart and she needs a heart transplant. Heart transplants are incredibly complicated and risky and even more so for someone like Tawnnya. Not only does she have her Congenital condition, but all of the heart surgeries and procedures over the years have made her anatomy extremely complex. Her major blood vessels are not accessible and her other major organs have a delicate balance to be maintained.

Tawnnya is a proud Northwoods woman from Minnesota! She loves to work and be active and cherishes her time with her son, Jaden, and husband, Steve. Tawnnya enjoys her time playing card games with her family and friends and has developed into a voracious reader. Her smile and laugh are infectious and her personality is second to none. It has been truly sad to see her energy drained from her and for her to continue to struggle and fight every waking minute.
