Tawanda Asamaowei Memorial Fundraiser

Tawanda Asamaowei unexpectedly left our world and became the brightest star in our sky on Thursday, December 9th, 2021.

 

Tawanda was many things to many people - incredible friend, devoted dog mom, loving partner, accessible yoga teacher, public health expert - but her first priority has always been to her beloved family.

 

Tawanda is survived by her father Rev. Patrick Bones Asamaowei, her mother TsiTsi Madzongwe, sisters Patricia Tinashe Onochie and Rachel Asamaowei, brothers BJ and CJ Asamaowei, her partner Evan Bolling, dog Barbie, and countless friends.

 

In her last few weeks, Tawanda spent her time between Atlanta and the DMV area, assisting her mother with caring for her younger sister Rachel, who has been valiantly fighting cancer. Tawanda’s absence in our world is already exceedingly painful, but even more so for her family who was already dealing with the unimaginable - they need a village around them, now more than ever. Additionally, Tawanda was assisting her family in preparing immigration documents so that her brothers, BJ and CJ, could move to the United States from Nigeria.

 

All donations to this gofundme will go directly to Tawanda’s family, in the care of her sister Tinashe. With Tawanda unavailable to be a caretaker, these funds will provide her mother with the financial security to work less so that she may take care of Rachel during the crucial first months of a new cancer diagnosis and assist her brothers with their immigration needs in addition to helping with Tawanda’s funeral and burial expenses.
