This GoFundMe is an online payment option for contributions to the Tau Zeta Fund in conjunction with the Kappa Foundation. A copy of the initial letter to the alums is below:

Dear Kappa Alumni,

Since becoming Kappa’s Prior at the start of the calendar year, it has been an honor to get to know some of you and truly see the strength of Sigma Alpha Mu’s alum network. I am writing to you today to ask you to continue your support of Kappa critically.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic’s total transformation of college life, Kappa has been challenged in many ways. Among these challenges, recruiting new members has been one of the toughest. We currently have 15 active members, with six seniors. However, I am beyond happy to report that we had a successful rush effort to start the year and have already recruited 16 new members into Kappa. These young men are a compassionate, driven group, and I am confident in their ability to lead Kappa into a bright future.

Although COVID-19’s impact on our lives has changed, it has not gone away. Many students are still feeling the pandemic’s effects, particularly in finances. Among these financial difficulties, some of the most significant strain is on the newest recruits. Many of these young men are taking on the challenge of paying for college and fraternity costs independently. We, as active members, know that these recruits are essential to the sustainability of Kappa and that we cannot lose them solely due to costs. To ensure their activation into Kappa, the Kappa Foundation, a registered 501c3 organization, has established a Tau Zeta fund (named after the current pledge class). This fund will support our 16 new members as they integrate into life at Kappa, with 100% of proceeds going towards Tau Zeta members’ dues and live-in costs.

I kindly ask you to contribute to our new Tau Zeta fund to ensure we continue to grow Kappa in the coming years. Anything is appreciated.
