** A celebration of life is being held at Burnt Cedar Beach on Sunday, April 24 from 11-2 p.m.**

Long-time local, Tatyana Floam, was taken suddenly and far too early from her children, family, and friends last week. Fifty-six-year-old ‘Taty’ or ‘Tanya’ emigrated from Kyiv, Ukraine to the US, eventually making her home in magical Lake Tahoe and becoming a US Citizen.
 
Tatyana leaves behind five bright, beautiful, children that brought her immense pride: Danny, Jessica, Kim, Abigail, and Marissa, as well as family in Ukraine. Tatyana supported her children’s educational and cultural opportunities by taking a role in our community including We the People and the Star Follies. She was an active and engaged citizen who believed in the American dream. 
 
She started as a shampoo girl learning English by watching The Young and the Restless soap opera on her breaks and fought to raise awareness of immigrants, and women’s rights, and to bring justice to Ukraine. A confidant to many through her cosmetology career, Tatyana gained friends that became family an hour at a time with her electric blue eyes, big smile, and warm giggle.
 
For those of us that had the privilege to know her, we were blessed to know a fierce, strong, loyal, smart, funny woman who loved to enter sweepstakes – and even won a car! 
 
That’s who Tatyana was – a woman with infinite hope, despite the odds.

Donated funds will be used to cover Tatyana's end-of-life expenses.
