Tattoo Box new location fund
Donation protected
Tattoo Box is in a bit of a bind on getting funding for a new location. Not a huge setback but enough of one to make getting open quickly an impossible feat. Would I be able to ask if you can help us to address our situation with some borrowed startup money? If I ask a few more people then it may be possible. I need an additional $5000cad over what we already have.
Tattoo Box street and our street facing storefront is about to be going under mayor construction, starting in about 9 months and lasting for 2 or more years. Tattoo Box building has the street water main directly under our doorstep. Making sure that we will be closed and unable to tattoo while the city demolishes our front step, blocking our door completely, and blocks the street from traffic during the water/gas/electric redo and subsequent resurfacing and construction of bike paths. The city will reimburse us during the construction for damage to our business but only a percentage of what they believe we are losing and not at all what we would need to keep everyone paid. So we are taking steps now to find a new property and get the new studio up and running so as we do not lose traffic during these construction years and have enough visibility in August thru winter at the new place that we will not lose any local traffic by opening too late in the season. By spring Tattoo Box #2 has to be sustainable and bringing in enough for Tattoo Box #1’s rent until the city pays us the stipend on construction. We can only do any of this if we open in August.
I’m flying back to Montréal at the end of July to start the construction and get the doors open and furniture inside for an immediate grand opening. The new location is in the gay village and will be facing an increase of visibility compared to our first location. Especially if we open during gay pride Montréal which begins August 1st.
If there is any help you can provide and any possibility that you can ask others to help us, Tattoo Box will be able to survive the whole process and have a much needed expansion at the same time as saving 4 artists’ jobs.
