Hi everyone,
If you know Tatianna, you know she has a very specific plan for her life. She is committed to making it to 40. She plans to be extremely hot. She plans to be extremely wise.
Unfortunately, her body has chosen violence.
After a start to the year that included surprise ER visits, way too many scans, and some truly rude medical plot twists, we finally have an answer. Tatianna has kidney cancer. Specifically, there are multiple tumors on her right kidney that are wreaking havoc.
On March 24th, she is having surgery to evict that kidney. Permanently.
Tatianna is handling this exactly how you would expect her to. She is making jokes. She is refusing to spiral. And she literally created a Google Survey to coordinate her own support because she didn't want to be an inconvenience.
She is trying to project-manage her own organ failure.
She keeps saying she is "resilient and calm" and that "joy is a form of radical resistance." And she is right. She is all of those things.
But here is the part she won’t say.
This is expensive. And the healthcare system is deeply uninterested in efficiency.
Just getting to the diagnosis has already cost Tatianna and Zach a significant amount out of pocket. They haven't even done the surgery yet and the bills are already rude.
While Tatianna is busy being resilient, we need to be realistic. We want to help cover the surgery, deductibles, copays, medicines, lost income while she heals, and the million small costs that stack up when you are fighting cancer.
Tatianna is spectacularly bad at asking for help. She's the person who shows up for everyone else. So as her friends, we are forcefully stepping in to do this for her.
If you have ever been organized by one of her spreadsheets, laughed at her commentary, or felt the warmth of her care, this is your moment to return the favor.
She wants to be 40. Badly.
Let’s help get her there with one kidney, a healed body, and a lot less stress.
If you can give: Thank you. If you can share: Thank you. If you want updates: She is writing about the journey (and the absurdity of it all) on her Substack. We linked it below so you can read her side of the story. Let’s get this kidney out of here!
