Tatiana's Way to 2023 ITF World Championships

Hi, my name is Tatiana Lobzhenidze and I have been selected to represent Canada at 2023 ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships in Tampere, Finland this September. 1100+ athletes from over 50 countries will compete for Champion's Title and medals. Taekwon-Do ITF has been my passion for almost 20 years. It is been a challenge and an amazing experience to become a competitive Taekwon-Do ITF athlete and represent my country at World Class Tournaments. It is an honor but also very hard work and great responsibility to be on Team Canada.

ITF Taekwon-Do is currently not a government-funded sport so athletes selected to compete as part of the Canadian National Team at the international level bear all the costs and expenses themselves. In September I am traveling to the 2023 ITF World Championships in Tampere, Finland to compete against the best Taekwon-Do athletes and this event is associated with many costs. Being an elite competitor comes with many sacrifices and challenges of intensive training, additional equipment and tournaments as well as logistics to get to all the places.

All the costs usually are accumulating as credit card debt and it takes a long time to pay it out. Below is a break down for this event:

Flight to Finland- $1996.00

Triple Athlete Hotel - Finland(September 2-10) - $1792.00

Team Canada Doboks - $250.00

Team Canada Apparel -$140.00

Sparring Gear in Red and Blue -$700.00(350.00 each set)

Additional Travelling costs - $500.00+

Team Canada Training and Seminars- $150.00+ and additional traveling costs to other cities.
