Tate Walters Memorial Fund

On September 29, 2021, Whaley Tate Walters passed away.

It can be difficult for us to understand or even accept the timing of death but Acts 1:7 tells us “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority."

Tate was loved by so many, family, friends, and the students and staff of Colonial Elementary School but most of all he was loved by his wife Edlyn and their daughters Taleah and Emiko. His universe revolved around them. Tate was made to be the dad of daughters. He was such an amazing father, constantly doting on Taleah and Emiko. Rightfully bragging on Taleah’s artistic abilities and Emiko’s adventurist spirit and ability to seemingly tame any animal she comes across. He was also a self-described comic book nerd. His favorite character was Captain America, but he collected all manner of comic book memorabilia. He also created and drew his own characters and shared his love of comics with his girls.

Tate and I met in the 7th grade and were best friends ever since. We spent an exorbitant amount of time playing Nintendo together as kids, seeing more movies than I can count, and just hanging out together. As adults we lived in different states, but we spoke often on the phone reminiscing about days gone by and how our kids were growing up too quickly. I will miss my friend dearly, but his memory will live on through all that knew him, and his legacy will live through his girls, Taleah and Emiko.

I am starting this fund in hopes to alleviate some of the financial burden that Edlyn may face in the coming weeks, months, and years ahead. Their loss is unimaginable but through your love and support, their healing can begin.
