Hi, my name is Tate and I'm raising money for my Eagle Scout Project: The Bat-verly Hills Hotel project. The plan is to build and install 5 bat houses in parks around Valencia, CA. The bat houses are constructed from redwood and are roughly 4 feet tall by 1 foot square and will be mounted on 20-foot poles.
Of course, I think bats are cool, but why should you care about this? I have two reasons for you:
First, bats can eat thousands and thousands of bugs every night, and are a great form of natural pest control, which would help to keep the local moth and mosquito populations in check.
Second, bats aren't very good roommates. If they start living in your house, it's a time-consuming, expensive process to have them removed. By providing them with a nearby alternative (the bat houses), the bats will be less likely to try to hide out in your attic. Batman might be cool, but your house shouldn't be the bat cave.
