Tasty's expensive taste and even more expensive surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katya and my dog's name is Tasty. The name speaks for itself and she loves eating stuff, even if they're not made for eating.
When a couple of months ago I discovered a half-eaten clothes hanger in the wardrobe and parts of it in her poop later that day, I was surprised but not really worried. She's eaten a lot of far worse stuff before and they would always come out the "natural" way.
That was weird, never before or after she showed any interest in hangers. Besides, she pooped it out and was acting normal. For two months. And then she wasn't.
Vomiting, no appetite, low energy, shaking and a very hard, bloated belly - those things made me rush into the nearest emergency vet hospital that, unfortunately, seemed to have no answer for what's going on. We lost a couple of days, my bi-weekly paycheck and lots of nerves.
Friday morning we got her to another hospital, and oh boy did things escalate quickly. She was taken in right away. Blood work, US, IVs and eventually surgery, all to get those darn pieces of that hanger out of her stomach and intestines.
And now she's home again, all sad in her cone and with a bunch of staples on her belly, but improving already. We'll do our best to take good care of her while she is recovering.
The vet bills are heavy. The total of $1500 from the first hospital and $7500 from the second burned through our savings like a wildfire. We'll appreciate every donation from your kind heart and make sure Tasty will leave her best life (without any hangers).
Thank you ❤️
