A Voice Silenced Too Soon - The Native world of a beautiful, indigenous, talented songwriter, producer, and singer has gained her wings.

In the early morning of June 17, 2025, our family experienced the sudden tragic loss of our beautiful daughter, sister, auntie, and friend, Tasheena “Sheena” Shandea Hinton. Her presence was the light of every room. Sheena Shandea’s voice soothed the worried, cheered up the sad, and gave strength to the tired. Only recordings of her poems and songs that showed her heart remain.

Why We Need You - Sheena single-handedly raised her sister Trista with minimal support. She was her protector, listener, and motivator; she showed unwavering strength, boundless love, and remarkable dedication.

Now our family faces heavy bills and dreams left unfinished:

UPDATE June 23, 2027 - FYI: we are aiming for Friday, June 27, 2025 at 1:00PM for a graveside burial at Farmington, NM at Memory Gardens. This info is tentative, we are not definite. It’s going to be short notice but, all we can do is have faith that we can secure enough funds to make it happen.

*** UPDATE June 26, 2027 - Burial date has been set for Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 1:00PM. This will be a graveside burial at Memory Gardens, 6918 E. Main Street, Farmington, NM 87402.
