Tasha’s Road to Wellness
In March of 2019, the love of my life and I got engaged one month after discovering we were going to be parents. For her it would be a first; however, I had been a single parent to two kids prior to meeting her.
Nevertheless, the excitement of engagement and parenting was brief. In late April of 2019, my fiancé was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. In the same year, we lost our home and things seemed to take a downward spiral. Despite every obstacle, as a tradesman, i continued to maintain off and on long distance employment, and by the grace of a pardon through my employer on October 7, 2019, I was able to witness the birth of our son.
On a brief lay off in January of 2020, I received more unpleasant news, my fiancé had been rear ended in an auto accident. Over the course of the months to follow, she had a series of imaging done and the imaging not only showed auto injuries but cancer metastasis. In spite of the news, I returned back to work to provide, and in March of 2020, due to my fiancé’s compromised immune system and the incline and battle with COVID-19; I made the decision to leave my job detail and go home to be with her through this difficult time. However, instead of being able to return to work when the opportunity presented itself, I assumed the role of being a full time caregiver and father of 3.
In the months following my leave, my fiancé lost her ability to independently walk in addition to experiencing other debilitating side effects of her prescribed medications. As a result, she underwent a series of radiation treatments, and in December of 2020, she underwent a second set of radiation treatments.
At this time, due to the cancer staging, it is considered terminal. Since the diagnosis, everything in our lives have been effected. Most of our days consist of going to doctors appointments, physical therapy, counseling while doing gig work in between available time tirelessly to make ends meet.
Due to significant burnout and limited help, we’re asking for help with the cost of alternative treatment, ongoing therapy, insurance, medical expenses, and care for the kids.
Any help, donation or a share to others will be greatly appreciated.
On behalf of The Ray Family, we sincerely thank you and will continue to update on Tasha’s Road to Wellness.
