"What Emily Miller and the rest of the team at Rebelle Rally have put together is nothing short of a world-class event. Over the course of eight days, competitors use old school map-and-compass to navigate desert landscapes stretching from Reno to San Diego, facing more challenges than could possibly be anticipated. In order to compete at this highest level, we need the support of the community and the partnership of brands that we trust."
Based in the foothills outside Denver, Colorado, Team Tacos & Sliders is comprised of Tasha Booth, Abbey Charles, and a brand spankin’ new 2019 Toyota Tacoma, and all three are ready for adventure.
Tasha and Abbey met in a parking lot of a ski area in the winter of 2017, after Tasha’s husband spotted the Navy Veteran plates on Abbey’s husband’s FJ Cruiser. Joel, Tasha’s husband, invited Chris and Abbey to meet up with an off-road club called the Colorado Veteran’s Overland Team; a few weeks later, they found themselves at the bottom of a canyon, in the middle of a snowstorm, bonding over Toyotas, rooftop tents, campfires, and cheap beer.
Desperately hoping the other female enjoying the suck was just as cool, Abbey and Tasha were pleasantly surprised and have been friends ever since; plus, who else is crazy enough to camp and off-road in a blizzard?!
After a couple of years of seeing various Rebelle trucks at rallies around Colorado, Abbey did some research and decided it was something she had to make happen. In the summer of 2019, she talked more with Emily Miller, the founder of the Rebelle Rally, and took a few classes at the inaugural Rocky Mountain Overland Rally. While they tried their hardest to get her to enter that fall’s rally, she committed to 2020, came home and told Tasha, and also informed her she had been volunteered as Abbey’s partner. Maybe more like volun-told? Tasha’s excitement for the event matched Abbey’s, and they’ve been preparing for this opportunity of a lifetime ever since.
