Hi, my name is Mia, I am creating this go fund me for Tarryn Holland. A person very close to my heart who is always doing things for others.
I met Tarryn in 2011 when she taught me at TAFE and little did, I know that this would mark the beginning of a long and meaningful friendship. From the start, she was more than just a teacher—she was a mentor who pushed me to strive for a better future and always believed in my potential. Over the years, her support helped me secure my current job, and our journey together took another beautiful turn when our children went through kindergarten side by side.
In a full circle moment, she now leads the very service she first recommended to me back in 2011, and today, she’s not just a colleague or my boss, she is my sister. What started as a professional connection has blossomed into something even more significant—she has become like family to me. I’m beyond grateful for the role she’s played in my life, helping me grow both personally and professionally.
Tarryn is the coordinator of our local non-profit kindergarten, SKBK, in St Kilda East. She is a passionate advocate for children and early childhood education, working tirelessly to build strong connections within our community. Tarryn is dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable, always showing up and standing up for those in need. She freely gives her time to several committees, including Ripponlea Primary School and the Australian Pompe Association. At every school and kindergarten event, Tarryn is the first to arrive and the last to leave, always offering her unwavering support to friends, family, Neighbour's, and our entire community.
In addition to her community work, Tarryn lives with Pompe disease, a rare and degenerative condition that significantly impacts her mobility and daily life. Despite these challenges, she remains an active parent, with two daughters who are deeply involved in sports, school, and community activities. Between her family, work, and volunteering commitments, Tarryn relies on a reliable car to manage her busy schedule.
Earlier this month, Tarryn’s car was written off after a stolen vehicle crashed into it while parked outside her apartment. This was the third time her car had been damaged. While the car was insured, the payout won’t cover the cost of a reliable vehicle that can meet Tarryn’s needs, especially as her condition progresses.
To show our gratitude and give back to the person who has so selflessly supported so many of us, we are raising funds to help Tarryn purchase a new car, as well as cover any additional expenses. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in supporting someone who has given so much to our community. Tarryn has always shown us kindness, generosity, and a commitment to making the world a better place. Let’s return the favour and help her navigate the challenges she faces with just a little bit more ease.
Together with our colleague Aaron and our dear friend Casey, we’ve come together to start this GoFundMe to support Tarryn. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who is able to contribute and help make a difference
