Taro is in the hospital

#tarothecatato is in the hospital due to urinary obstruction, which could be deadly for cats. He has shown these tendencies before, but this is the first time he hasn’t improved after a day or so, and also the first time he’s been suffering so badly that he’s been screaming in pain, not eating (I mean, this is Taro we’re talking about, he ate two slices of pizza once just because they were there), and not even being able to lie down in a position that doesn’t cause him pain.
I took him to a vet who immediately sent us along to the emergency room at a pet hospital. There they told me that he needed to be sedated to start the process of unblocking his urinary tract right away. If it didn’t improve quickly it would most likely be fatal. He will be staying at the hospital for at least two nights while they’re doing the procedure, but most likely more.
The stay itself will cost $1,800-3,000. If they find a kidney stone, they will need to perform surgery, which isn't included in the estimate. He also needs medication and a special diet after the procedure to make sure that it doesn’t happen again, which will be a few hundred on top of that.
This unfortunately isn't something I can afford right now, but I'm not willing to give up on #tarothecatato yet.
