Hello,
My name is Tariq Jones.
This year for my elective class I’ve taken Chinese in an attempt to broaden my cultural horizons and know a little more about the world. As a result, I’ve been presented with the unique opportunity to attend a trip to China along with the rest of my class, so that we can try and better understand the language and culture. This would be my first trip off of the North American continent.
I view this as a once in a lifetime experience, capable of helping me with my creative endeavors: the ideas I am developing for my career in video game design; the book I’m currently writing; and the knowledge seeking lifestyle I would like to uphold could all be taken to greater heights by this one trip.
Below is a little bit more about me.
I am currently an 11th grade student at Grand Blanc High School. I am dual enrolled in classes from the University of Michigan-Flint via the Early College program. I was honored to be selected to participate in the program as one of the top 50 students at my high school. I love puzzles, I love games, I love creativity and respect creators for the hard work that they do for their audience.
In the future, I’m seeking a career in game design, a goal I have held since I was 5 years old. I make it my personal business to experience certain things for inspiration and to expand my knowledge base, which I hold so dear.
If you take any interest in this campaign, thanks for the support; even just reading this helps, in my eyes.
This trip is a purely personal affair, a meeting between my ambitions and my opportunities. So the fact that anyone has read this far is commendable. I thank you for your attention towards the international dreams of a kid from Flint, MI.
Rest assured that any funds generated will be going towards getting me to China. I will be spending out of my own pocket for cultural and personal items that I wish to purchase while there.
Nevertheless, I could use the help.
