Debbie and Craig Emerton have a 5 generation dairy farm in Taree where they have lived for forty years and it has been completely devastated by the flood. They have only 12 Springer cows out of 45 left and have lost a further 8 cows out of 77 that were being milked and 20 calves out of 50 left, however, the cows are struggling with illness from the lood water and stress and sadly there has been further loss.
They've lost all their furniture, their new kitchen and laundry was ripped out, their machinery and vehicles and their generator was all consumed by the flood. And living in a flood zone, they have no insurance.
We would love to support them back into their home and dairy life. I know Debbie's sister, Margaret, who is a Bahai in Newcastle and I have known her for 30 years when I lived up there too before I moved to Melbourne. I hope Debbie and Craig can use this money to make their house livable again and buy some cattle and bring their soil back tpo a healthy state to be able to grow quality feed for the cows to live on.
