Tara's Prosthetic Arm

Donation protected
Tara needs your help. Tara Ditlevson was struck by a train on September 16, 2017 and dragged for several hundred feet. She sustained massive injuries to her brain, face, arm and especially hand. Defying all odds and doctor's expectations, and thanks in great part to the massive outpouring of support after her accident, Tara has made a miraculous recovery over the last ten months and is almost back to full function. On July 31 2018 Tara had her right hand amputated two inches above the wrist after 9 surgeries over the last ten months failed to return functional use. Tara is looking forward to finally putting this behind her and beginning her career as an acupuncturist, utilizing her Master's of Science in Oriental Medicine. She says, "It's nothing short of a miracle I survived. I want to take this blessing and make the most of it by sharing my healing and knowledge with others." Due to recent advancements in medical science and 3D printing, it is now possible to give her back the ability to use her training to help others recover from their personal traumas through therapeutic acupuncture. Myoelectric prosthetics offer a real opportunity to return to normal use, but have been, on a whole, prohibitively expensive. Your support will help Tara to be able to utilize the best resources available to reach her full potential.
