Tara's Kidney Fund
In May of 2017, I was diagnosed with kidney failure due to end stange renal disease (ESRD) ,and admitted inro the ICU at UW Medical Center for life saving care. I was in the hospital for a month, while they ran tests, stabilized my health, and started me on dialysis.
Getting to a stable place where I can resume most normal activities has taken months, but I'm slowly reaching my goals.!
One of the goals my medical team has set is to get me a kidney transplant. I'm at the very begining of the list process, and might have as long at 5 years to wait, unless I can find a living donor who is a match, in which case, my wait will be much, much shorter- anywhere from one to five years. So the sooner I can prepare the better.
I'm putting up this gofundme page now, because I will need financial assistance to get rent & bills paid, afford food, co-pays on prescriptions, transport to and from doctors appointments, in home care for the period immediately after surgery, and other assorted expenses my insurance won't cover while I'm adjusting to a suppressed imune system and unable to work after the surgery.
Please feel free to share this far and wide. It seems like a lot of money, but if 27,000 people donate $1.00 each, it's an easily reachable goal!
If you're intersted in donating a kidney, please vist the Alliance for Paired Donation website at paireddonation.org
