My name is Tara. I have just found out that I have recurring cervical cancer. I was originally diagnosed back in 2020 with stage 3 cervical cancer. I received radiation and chemo, but I had to stop the chemo due to getting COVID. Later in 2020, I got the news that it had recurred in my lymph nodes by my liver and behind my heart. I proceeded to get treatment with a chemo cocktail of three different kinds. After finishing that treatment, my scans showed NED (no evidence of disease) for three years.
Last year in the fall, I received an abnormal pap smear and had two photo ablations done. Those didn't help, so in January, I had to undergo a radical hysterectomy and vaginectomy. I was out of work for two months. I had great hopes that the operation took care of it. I had a follow-up appointment on July 16th, 2025, to find out that I now have a cancer tumor growing where my uterus/cervix once was.
I was given two options for treatment. One is another set of chemotherapy, and the other is an extensive surgery which would leave me with no bladder, colon, and vagina, requiring me to use bags for the rest of my life to use the bathroom. The option of which treatment depends on what my PET scan shows. I will be seeking a second opinion at a hospital that specializes just in cancer to see if there are any other options for me.
This is going to be an expensive journey, and with any option I receive, I will be out of work for an undisclosed amount of time. I have no spouse or significant other. My family is showing support emotionally, but financially they are unable to, so that is why I am asking for help. I need the help for medical bills, rent, food, and other necessary bills. It is inevitable that I will be out of work for some time. Please, please help... anything will help towards my goal! Thank you in advance.
