As some of you may know or may not know, our mom, Taral Blake, has been facing serious health challenges throughout her life and especially right now. Reluctantly, we need to reach out and ask for your support during this immensely difficult time.

On Sunday, August 17th, our mom was admitted to the hospital after suffering a severe stroke (left side MCA). Doctors also discovered a blood clot in her brain, as well as one traveling from her neck going down towards her heart area. They think because of multiple health problems that is what caused these blood clots and stroke. She was released on Thursday, August 21st. Just days later, on August 27th, she was admitted again after experiencing two additional minor strokes on the opposite side of her brain. Along with slight internal bleeding around those strokes. Along with these . She was able to return home on Tuesday, September 2nd. October 5th she was readmitted for another small stroke then returned home October 7th since there wasn’t much they could do besides what they are already doing. 

Unfortunately, these strokes are only part of her ongoing health struggles. She also has battled or is still battling: Aphasia, Bradycardia, Severe Psoriasis, Atrial Fibrillation, Artial flutter , Tachycardia, Infection Prone, Bursting Polyps in Ovaries, Meningitis, Spinal Bifida , and massive complications from multiple artery infections. Through her battles with artery infections and severe complications, she has had to endure multiple rounds with a wound vac sometimes even for long, difficult stretches. At one point, doctors even considered amputating her leg, but the risk of further infection was still there and made it an impossible choice. In the end, she keep her right leg, undergoing surgery to remove the artery without being able to receive a stent.

This is only a portion of the illnesses she’s been facing alone because she doesn’t want to burden anyone. The truth is she needs us now more than ever. These conditions have made life incredibly challenging for her.

Taral Blake has always been a fighter, pushing through every challenge life has thrown her way. She has spent her life putting others first making sure everyone around her was cared for, happy, fed, and safe. Now, in this difficult season, it’s our turn to rally around her and give back the same love and support she has.
