Hope is a former Police K-9 who was adopted out upon her retirement. Recently, we were called to see if we could take her in and care for her because she had been abandoned in a backyard on a tether with minimal or no food and water for several weeks.
We brought her, dehydrated and emaciated, to our emergency vet who rated her a 1 on a scale of 1 to 9 for body mass. This is the worst case we have personally been involved with and we are staggered by the amount of neglect this dog has endured.
I won’t lie, her situation is grave. But she’s been fighting for the past week and we are doing everything in our power to help her survive this. Today she got a blood transfusion from Ryker, one of our adoptable pit bulls. Unfortunately, her vet bills are already staggering and are steadily climbing. Right now Hope needs extensive vet care and we need your help.
Local animal control and police departments are involved in the case and charges may be brought, so we can’t delve too much into the situation that brought her to us. But she needs us now; and we need your help…to save Hope.
