Tara needs a little help

I am one of the many millions who have lost a year of income to the pandemic.

I’ve been on furlough from my concierge position (I’ve been a volunteer at a non-profit club for 20+ yrs) since early March, 2020.  Unfortunately, as a volunteer, I don’t qualify for  any of the special pandemic unemployment assistance programs, so I have had to fend for myself. I I put up a fundraiser early in the Pandemic, thinking I’d only need a few hundred dollars to get through a few months until reopening.  A year later, I have completely depleted anything I raised, my retirement savings, and everything else, except for the money I have saved for my (pending) kidney transplant aftercare.  I’ve been looking for other work, but as a dialysis patient, it’s difficult to squeeze a daytime job in around the dialysis schedule.

While I’d prefer to be working, it looks like it’s going to be a while until we get to phase 4, which is when we would be able to open up. I’m hopeful opening will be some time in the Summer, and I’m hopeful I will still have a job once we get to phase 4, but until then, I still need to pay for rent, bills, and medication.

I have always been so busy volunteering and fundraising for others, the city, and the community, I’ve been terrible about asking for help for myself. Now, with each passing day, things are getting harder to manage, and I realize it’s time to ask.  If you can spare anything to help, it would be immensely appreciated, and if you can’t donate, please share!

Thank you.
