Making the most of our days and spending our time on what matters most is something we should all be doing, but sometimes something happens that makes that clearer than ever. This is the case for Tara Hoyt – a loving wife to her husband Joel and a loving mother to her daughter Zoe. Tara was diagnosed with breast cancer about a year ago which has since spread to her spine and liver. She’s had a long year of treatments that have been mostly ineffective, with few options left.

In her doctor’s opinion, having two more years would be a miracle. More likely, she has less time than that and though she feels physically strong on most days, there is no way of knowing how long that will last. Tara is facing this with great courage and faith and wants to spend her time wisely and meaningfully. For the most part, this means spending it with her husband, daughter, family, and friends. As her friends and family, we want to provide for them to make this possible.

Joel has already missed salary to care for his family and will likely be able to take an extended leave from work with a 45% cut to income. We would like to help bear this burden so Joel and Tara feel free to focus on what is most important.

Feel free to observe and share this journey with Tara and Joel by following her blog at A Cancer Observed, keeping in touch with them, remembering them in prayer, and giving when we are able. Please note that the fundraising goal is somewhat arbitrary. There will be no disappointment or failure if the goal is not reached. Any amount will be helpful and much appreciated.
