Anything helps. Thank you so much for reading.
Hello friends and family,
Over the past week, we noticed our beautiful pittie, Jade, suddenly becoming very fatigued, achy, and sluggish — which is the complete opposite of her usual energetic, happy self. As the days passed, her behavior didn’t improve. She lost her appetite and barely left her bed. At first, we hoped it might just be signs of aging, as Jade’s 9th birthday is approaching. We tried everything we could at home to comfort her.
Despite her occasional spark — like excitedly running to the door when she heard the jingle of her collar — we couldn’t shake the feeling that something was very wrong.
On Thursday afternoon, Anais and I took her to the vet. After a quick ultrasound, they found a serious infection in her uterus. Jade was diagnosed with closed pyometra, a life-threatening condition that can occur in unspayed dogs. Since Jade came into our lives at 5 years old, we never planned for a spay and were advised by another vet that it wouldn't be necessary— and until now, there was no sign of trouble.
Thankfully, she didn’t have a fever yet, which meant we may have caught it just in time. Our vet urged us to get her to the emergency room immediately, as the infection could enter her bloodstream and become fatal. We didn’t hesitate. We rushed her to the ER so she could receive the life-saving surgery she needed.
As many of you know, emergency vet care is incredibly expensive — especially when it includes overnight surgery and intensive monitoring. The estimated cost of her treatment is around $8,000.
As I write this, Jade is in surgery having her uterus removed. While it’s considered a routine procedure, the infection makes it higher risk, and she’ll need careful recovery to ensure the infection hasn’t spread.
Anais, Jade’s sister Daisy, and I are humbly asking for any help — no matter how small — to support Jade’s care and recovery. If you’re not able to donate, we ask for your prayers and positive thoughts for our sweet girl as she begins her healing journey.
Jade is the sweetest, most loving pit bull anyone could ever ask for. We’re doing everything we can to keep her happy and healthy, and we are beyond grateful for your love and support.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
