Hello!
Tapes Of Bedlam is a student film with a crew comprised of final-year students from Falmouth University, Cornwall. We are already working hard behind the scenes to bring this film to life and expect to shoot in March! We come to GoFundMe with hopes of reaching our goal and raising £4000. Please take a read through our page to learn a little more about us and our film!
P.S. Make sure to follow us on social media to keep updated with our filmmaking journey, fundraising events, and some exciting teasers!
Synopsis
"In a post-apocalyptic world, 'Tapes Of Bedlam' follows Caleb, a man with a traumatic past, as he becomes entangled with the charismatic preacher Balaam and his cult. The film explores themes of faith, redemption, and moral dilemmas in a desolate society. It's a compelling narrative about the human struggle for purpose in a collapsing world."

Our Crew
Producer - Reuben Lewis Roythorne
Going into this production I'm filled with nothing but excitement. I'm working with a great team of people who are determined to bring this script to film. This will be my first time as a leading Producer on a film and I'm looking forward to learning and gaining as much as I possibly can from this experience. Despite this being my first time as a lead Producer I am confident that I am the right person for the job and that my skill set aligns well with this production!
Director - Cameron Ryan
My name's Cameron. I'm the writer and director of the "Tapes of Bedlam". This project pushes personal boundaries for the work myself and my crew have done, that's what's most exciting about the project for me. As it's our final project whilst studying at university we have set ourselves a challenging project to push the limits of our creative and technical skills to create a project we can all be proud of.
Production Design - Emily
I’m Emily the production designer on ‘Tapes of Bedlam’ and I’m really excited to work on this project as it explores some interesting themes of addiction and grief and how these two concepts are intertwined with each other, whilst also having some intense action. I’ll also be able to build some cool sets and work with some gory prosthetics so definitely a fun project to be on!
Sound Design - Sky
The name is Sky, boom op, recordist, and post guy. Excited to see some actions and eager to connect the ears to eyes!
Cinematographer - Theo Chapman
I’ve always loved being behind the camera, through my love of cinematography brought my love of editing. I wanted to challenge myself this year and move away from editing and focus on cinematography as it is something I have been wanting to do for a while. I wanted to work on this film because me and Cameron (the director) have been working together for years on various projects, we always see eye to eye and as soon as I saw the script I was hooked, drawing up a shot list in just a few weeks.
Editor - Cian Basquille
Off the back of last year's film, both myself and Cameron (the director) began planning this year's production. I found a lot of joy in editing our previous film, and I’m very excited to turn camera to screen this year!
Festival Plan
We are planning to take this film to a wide range of festivals in the UK but also all around the world. Your donations will not only help us fund and make the film but will also support us and make it more possible to be involved in these festivals.
We are currently looking at: Paris Art and Movie Awards, Norway Action Film Festival, European Cinematography Awards, Bratislava International Film Awards, New York Super Shorts Film Festival, New York Super Shorts Film Festival (UK), Nottingham Film Festival, Scream Queer - Eros and Thanatos.
We are a group of strong believers that to be the best you must shoot the highest!
Budget
- To safely use weapons on a film set we need to employ an Armorer. Despite this being a large cost using weapons on set can be very high risk so safety is of much importance.
- An important part of running a smooth shoot is punctuality. Making sure all crew and cast have easy access to travel between locations is very important.
- Often using locations to shoot will require some payment or donations. We are working hard to find locations we can use for free however the reality is most places we use we will have to pay.
- Prop and Set design is a key aspect of making a film realistic to its era and story. To do this Emily our production designer will need to sort items online through places like eBay and in person at workshops and other retailers. Similarly, costume design requires a lot of attention. This would include using places like charity shops to build outfits.
- Acting and supervisions, Another important cost we are looking at is providing supervision and toilet access for all crew and cast at every location we use. For some of our more rural locations, this may include renting a portable option or providing close access via establishments or transport.
- We also have to think about the sound and music we use in the film. To avoid licensing and copyright issues we will have to make sure we have paid all fees to use our desired sound/music.
