During my university summer break, I am lucky enough to be able to extend my nursing learning internationally. I am currently pursuing a four-year dual Bachelor of Science degree in Paediatric Nursing and in Mental Health Nursing, I will have earned two NMC pins upon qualification. This summer I will be flying out to Tanzania, learning alongside nurses on various aspects of paediatric nursing. I have been lucky enough to select my interests on what I will primarily concentrate on in the hospital, so far these being Infectious Diseases; Child Malnutrition; Intensive Care Units; Burns Units and a week travelling more rural communities within the country, alongside specialist community nursing teams. These relate to my current job roles in one of the UK’s major trauma centres, where I have had extensive exposure and learning opportunities in ICU’s and Emergency departments as a Healthcare Assistant.
I have no doubt that this experience will educate me more than I can imagine. Not just regarding nursing practice and skills, but also regarding communication, perspectives , culture, and hopefully even language! I can't wait to see and hear about the variations in nursing processes and practices. I will embrace the change.
While I would be really appreciative of ANY donations, I am aware that many people are now going through difficult financial times nationally <3 Nevertheless, if you are able, do share! My main goal of this fundraising page is awareness, as I know I will learn so much and want people to take adventures to help further their education!
