My name is Irina Crismaru and I am raising funds for my dearest friends, Uri Hodus and Tetyana Khodus. They lost all they had to lava in  Kapoho, Big Island, Hawaii.  Their house in Vacationland with all possessions was taken by lava on June 5th, 2018. All donations will go directly to them to help them survive now (rent a place) and buy a lot to build a simple structure (if funds allow it). A copy of their ID is attached as proof of their residency. Here is their story:



They almost reached retirement age and worked all those years to save money for a house. Couple years ago they started looking at houses for sale in Los Angeles and the prices were so high and Tanya was having surgery at her knee so she could not continue to work like before and needed more rest. They visited Hawaii and fell in love with it. The prices on Big Island fit their budget and they bought their house on 14-4919 Waiopae Rd, Pahoa (Kapoho) .
This area is also called Vacationland (the map in the photos below shows the lava covered the entire neighborhood). 
1 year ago they spent all their savings on this house and Uri worked almost every day remodeling it. They just started renting out half portion of the house to tourists in order to generate income and couple months later lava came. This was their retirement plan and it is all gone now.  
They were sure until the last minute that lava will not come to their house, they loved it so much and cared for Mother Nature.  They were evacuated at night at 2AM and at that moment lava covered the electricity poles and there was no electricity , they just took a small bag in the dark and all their possessions stayed in the house and burnt with Pele.  In addition they had no insurance on their house. 
I pray a new door will open for them and they can find peace in their hearts and a place to call home again.

Small note about myself: I am originally from Moldova and lived on Big Island for the past 3 years. I gave birth to my son on this beautiful island. There is much magic here and also a lot of lessons of non-attachment. When my son was 4 months old,  Uri and Tanya offered me their house to enjoy for free until they moved in ( 1 year later). At that time they were in Los Angeles finishing up their work and generating more income to remodel the house and make it their home, sweet home. My family had a memorable time in their house.
