Tanya’s Cateract Surgery
Donation protected
Hello Everyone!!!
I am raising funds to help my Mom, Tanya Haenny, receive the eye surgery that she needs!
Mom has several autoimmune conditions that have likely been the cause of the early onset, and rapid development, of the cataracts she now has in both of her eyes. The only treatment for cataracts is surgery - without which she will lose her sight.
The reason we are reaching out to our friends and family is because this surgery is not fully covered by insurance and the portion due out of pocket must be paid up front before the surgery will be performed. Mom has been unable to work, due to her health, for several years now and has absolutely no way to come up with this extra money on her own.
Because Mom takes a medication that can potentially cause retina damage she has her eyes examined every six months. Two appointments ago there was no trace of cataracts. However, at her most recent visit the cataracts were already so developed that they were significantly impacting her vision and she was already a candidate for surgery. This is an unusually fast rate of development, as cataracts often take years before they reach this point. Another factor is that she is quite young to be faced with this (which just makes the whole situation even more strange) and we really feel that Mom probably needs to have this surgery sooner instead of later.
I do what I can to help, but unfortunately I don’t have the means to solve this myself. If you are able to help in anyway at all it would mean the absolute world to both of us! Her surgery is scheduled for November, so, as long as we are able to raise the money, she should be able to see by Christmas! Again, thank you!
