It was thanks to a brochure on Asperger Syndrome that I picked up from a Melbourne psychologist's clinic on the day that I officially got diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in 2005 that sparked this desire to help raise awareness of Asperger Syndrome. There was a paragraph on the back of the brochure that said, "Only when the community acknowledges, understands and appropriately addresses this disability can people with Asperger Syndrome minimise the effects of misunderstanding to reach and maximise their full potential", and when I looked at that paragraph, I thought to myself, "If the community doesn't understand Asperger's, then I'll make them understand the condition!" and as I figured, what better way to raise awareness of Asperger Syndrome than to share my story?
To cut a long story short, that's how "Organised Cacophony: My Life with Asperger Syndrome" came about, as my way of helping educate the world about the condition by sharing my unique story while helping prove the fact that we people on the autism spectrum are just as unique and different as people who are not on the spectrum. The need to heighten awareness and understanding of Asperger Syndrome is why this project is important to me, and there are people in my life today who are aware of my book, which I started writing soon after my "light bulb moment" and have been working on in the years since, who have voiced their keenness to read the book once it is published. However, while I have signed a contract with a publisher overseas who has voiced their keenness to bring this published book to fruition, I need the money to pay for the publishing package I opted for. This is where you donors come in.
With the money that is raised from this campaign, I will be able to pay for the publishing package, which includes publication of the book as a softcover, as an e-book, and as an audiobook, as well as a book trailer and an author website to promote the book. While I am in talks with the publisher's finance team to pay off the package in instalments, I would like to be able to relieve myself of my debt to them sooner rather than later, so your help in funding this package would mean the world to me. Thank you all in advance for your help, and I look forward to sharing my unique story of life with Asperger Syndrome with you once my book is published.
