Osterlund Family

Over the past year our friend and colleague CGS employee Tanya Osterlund and her husband Brian have been waiting patiently by the phone as Brian had been informed earlier in the year by his medical team that he had liver cancer and was in need of a life saving liver transplant.  

Well that call finally came on May 1,  Brian  had a match and received his organ transplant in London, Ontario.

Brian's transplant was very serious, and while their health insurance will thankfully cover the transplant, there are aspects of care and recovery which are not covered by insurance. For the first year after a transplant, a patient remains at high risk for rejection, and there are many costs associated with monitoring and guarding against this, as well as with recuperation in other ways. After-care is crucial, and it's expensive. That's where we can help.

Brian is  generous, inspirational, and completely in love with life in a manner which reminds the rest of us of the reasons why we might feel the same way. Together with his family, Brian is facing a very tough time ahead, and we can help to make it a little easier and less stressful.
