Tanner's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Tanner, along with 12 other dogs, were rescued by C.A.R.L. (Canine Adoption and Rescue League) during a raid of a backyard operation in El Rio, California, back in 2011.  The dogs were kept chained in the elements and hardly knew a caring touch. Tanner came to the sanctuary as a young, one-year-old puppy, and spent day in and day out at the kennel for over 8 years. Despite his former life, Tanner has always loved his snuggles, a good roll in the grass, a warm blanket and a squeaky tennis ball. He was just grateful for a taste of life off of a chain!

Tanner's back story gained sympathy over the years, and  endless love from staff and volunteers, but still no one came forward to give Tanner the home he always deserved. Until this year, when a CARL foster family opened their hearts and took Tanner in.  He quickly wiggled his way into their home and they knew he was where he belonged; it was here that the third chapter of his life began.

Recently, Tanner was at the vet for a routine check-up, when they found a  cancerous mass near his prostate. Further evaluation showed that the mass is growing, and will continue to do so without treatment. We don't know exactly what is involved in this mass, or what the treatment options are, but we do know that we owe it to Tanner to find out.   We are taking Tanner to Veterinary Cancer Group in Woodland Hills, where he will undergo diagnostics (x-rays, ultrasound, bloodwork) and hopefully begin treatment. CT scans and radiation therapy are the ultimate goal, if it is in Tanners best interest, so we have included the treatment estimate in our fundraising goal.

CARL has been hit incredibly hard by COVID-19, as has the rest of the world, and we cannot do this without the help of all of you. We have a responsibility to all of the dogs to provide them with the utmost care, and we need your help to do it.

Tanner has just discovered what home life is, and we really want to see him enjoy his golden years in the home that he has been waiting so patiently for all these years. Of course, any additional funds will be donated back to CARL for some much-needed repairs and upgrades to the kennel, on behalf of Tanner and all of the other senior dog that have called CARL their temporary home.
