Tanisha Gutierrez.
She is a member of the Navajo-Dine’ tribe.
An above average former patient care tech, she put her career on hold since Sep 2021. She is in the fight of her life with the diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) that has only been treatable in the last 6 years.
She’s a mother of 2 honor roll students and was on her way to become a nurse. However, the same month she was accepted into the nursing program, she was diagnosed with ALL in addition to philadelphia chromosome (Ph+ALL).
During her 2 year battle, she had to fight through pain resulting from the chemo therapy cycles, lumbar punctures, multiple bone marrow biopsies, and radiation poisoning that resulted in her delay in the transplants for over a year now. This eventually led to the weakening of the lungs and over 100 lbs in weight loss.
She has had to fight through Covid multiple times, loss of memory, helping her youngest daughter fight covid, meanwhile having to go through unstable home conditions. She also battled septic shock episodes which was caused by an open wound infection. In addition to that, her chemo meds side effects began to drain her white blood count and platelets levels. She’s been through painful side effects of multiple medications and treatments. Yet, she still stands today, fighting, after all of that.
She has been on disability income for quite some time, but now she had to fight off a damage liver resulting in stage 3 liver disease, and though she’s on the track of recovering from that, it will still take some time to come back into form in which her ex husband and main caretaker has been providing complete care of not only her but also the responsibility of nearly complete care of their school, home, and family life. She is still able to be a full time mother under the full time care provided by the farther of her daughters. But because of the result of not being able to meet the requirement of being employed of her full time caretaker, he has been unable to find consistent employment due to the ever changing condition of Tanishas’ health. He is putting his family life, his daughters life above his own full time.
We don’t know exactly what the future hold in this journey. The care has to be on full time, but the goal of having Tanisha around to continuing raising her daughters along with their father. Even though Tanisha has been fighting this for 2 years with no end of sight, she has been putting the needs of her daughters first before hers. We want to help lighten some load for the time being so her and her caretaker can have some peace during this time.
She is constantly in pain, but that doesn’t keep her bed ridden. She has too much in her will power to do to beat this cancer.
Please help with any donations that will go to this strong family.. Thank you all.
