Tania Gomes - Battle with stage 4 Breast Cancer
What was supposed to be a beautiful moment for a loving family has now took an unfortunate turn for the worst.
Brendon Armenio and Tania Gomes already had a beautiful daughter to be thankful for and now recently became pregnant and were expecting a baby boy to add to their family !
One day, early in the pregnancy, Tania started feeling some unfamiliar lumps in her breast and decided to have them checked. The tests came back positive to stage 2 breast cancer. Already concerned with her pregnancy, Tania had to deal with the burden of fighting breast cancer while still being in the early stages of her pregnancy. That is not the type of news a mother ever wants to hear, but there was still hope for Tania who was now in the hands of a doctor that specialized in pregnant breast cancer patients. Under the hands of her new doctor, Tania had successful surgery to remove the breast cancer, and was waiting for her chemo treatments to start. During that time Tania started having pain in her back. As the pain grew stronger, she went back and fourth from the hospital trying to figure out the issue. Initially she was told it was just back muscle spasms and was sent back home. As days went by the pain persisted and Tania knew something was wrong. She was once again brought back to the hospital to check her back. This time the doctors found tumours growing around her spinal cord area and she was brought in for an emergency surgery to remove as many tumours as possible. They successfully removed the biggest tumours and had to repair a crushed vertabrae that was caused by a growing tumour. Some small tumours still remain that will need to be treated by radiation.
Now classified as stage 4 metastatic breast Cancer, Tania is currently recovering from surgery, awaiting an emergency C-section to deliver a pre-mature baby, all while knowing she will have to undergo radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy once the baby is born. They will also finally be able to complete a full body scan to know what they are up against without harming the baby.
We need your help to support this family that has been shaken by all this recent news. With this money, Brendon can take this time to concentrate on taking care of his family. A wife who is fighting for her life, an inevitable pre-mature baby on the way as well as his 3 year old daughter Liana without having to think of financial burdens during this incredibly tough time. Stage 4 breast cancer does not have any cure, therefore we are also hoping to be able to research any available treatments or trials for Tania that may be available to her once her scan is complete. We also hope this money will give her more options in the future.
