Tango for Ulysses Feature Documentary Appeal

Hi, and thank you for being here!

My name is Iliana Ludzik, aka Nevenka Ludzik; I left Argentina, my country, 21 years ago.

While my displacement experience was enriching, it was also an odyssey, patched occasionally, with inspiring moments of solidarity.

In 2008 I had a wake-up call with cancer; thankfully, surviving that experience put my life priorities in a new order, so I decided to pursue my (long-hidden) calling to make documentaries.

While studying film in Spain, I first heard about the Ulysses Syndrome, Migrant Syndrome of Multiple Chronic Stress. I realised I had been suffering many of the symptoms for years.
Like me, every day millions of people feel alienated and helpless due to the hurdles attached to being displaced.

This documentary sparked in an urge to bring awareness and connection in a time when our world is most uncertain and displacement, whether we want it or not,  could become part of our own story.

Thus, the filming began….

THE DOCUMENTARY:

TANGO FOR ULYSSES Episode 1 -Identity- is a Reflexive-Participatory feature Documentary that invites the audience to ponder the diaspora phenomenon and the benefits/challenges of displacement.
The film takes two angles: one, from a historical perspective, showing the British emigration and legacy in Argentina; the other offers a glimpse of the current London diverse social scene, with its values and beliefs around migration.

Through interviews, testimonials and observations, we aspire to understand how cooperation and the blending of cultures can lead to the mutual enrichment of individuals and nations.

THE IMPACT:

Migration is a timeless and universal phenomenon that has preserved our species. Between natural disasters and war-like conflicts, our world has become more and more unpredictable; as a result, displacement (forced or chosen) is rising. Now is the time to explore our capacity to connect as human beings sharing a planet; thus, our documentary seeks to ignite positive change.

We've worked hard, and at this last stage, we need your help to cover the cost of filming a few pending sequences; then tackle the post-production that will allow us to finish this documentary with the best quality possible. Any additional funds raised will be used for promotion, distribution, and to start Episode 2. Once the film is complete and released, we plan to share it with schools and other organizations to act as an educational tool and a conversation starter, creating more empathy towards our fellow human beings.

Should we fall short of our goal, the funds raised will be devoted to filming and post-production, simplified accordingly.
