It's been a year since tango musicians and dancers have been able to work normally. The situation is particularly difficult in Buenos Aires, where artists have received almost no government support during the pandemic.
Yael Szmulewicz (filmmaker), Juan Villarreal (musician/sound engineer), Tan Kurttekin (photographer/filmmaker) and Meredith Klein (dancer/organizer) have come together to create Tango en la Terraza , a series of twelve concerts featuring some of the best tango musicians and dancers of today.
The concerts take place on a magical rooftop terrace in the Boedo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and are streamed to the world.
Our goal is to provide inspiration and hope for tangueros around the world, while supporting tango musicians and dancers, and helping them build their audiences worldwide.
In total, the year-long series will involve 24 musicians and 12 dancers. All the artists are extraordinary, and many are not well-known outside of Argentina. Tango en la Terraza provides a beautiful way of getting to know the cutting-edge tango of today, and the musicians and dancers who are creating the tango of the future.
The series will require both ticket sales and donations in order to succeed.
Ways you can help:
* Check out our website and forward it to other tango lovers
