Tango en la Terraza: Online Concert Series

Tango en la Terraza  is an online series of concerts, featuring some of the best tango dancers & musicians of today.  The concerts take place on a magical rooftop terrace in the Boedo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and are streamed to the world.  Concerts are released once per month, usually on the 4th Friday of the month.  Ticket holders may join our streaming event, or view the concert on demand at their leisure.

This concert series was conceived because of the extreme difficulties facing tango professionals due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The series has paid artists and provided work, but also given them chances to reach audiences far beyond Buenos Aires, audiences who have bought their music on other platforms, and who may be the audience for future tours.

The series is produced by Yael Szmulewicz (filmmaker), Juan Villarreal (musician/sound engineer), Tan Kurttekin (photographer/filmmaker) in Buenos Aires, and Meredith Klein (dancer/organizer) in Philadelphia.

In total, the year-long series will involve 24 musicians and 12 dancers.  All the artists are extraordinary, and many are not well-known outside of Argentina.  Tango en la Terraza provides a beautiful way of getting to know the cutting-edge tango of today, and the musicians and dancers who are creating the tango of the future.

The series will require both ticket sales and donations in order to succeed.
