Hi Everyone,
We are 13 players from Singapore's Tanglin Rugby Club Under 13s team and we are here to support Kampuchea Balopp NGO (Balopp Initiative) in Cambodia.
KB, as we call it, does a fantastic job bringing sport, rugby in particular, to underprivileged boys and girls in Cambodia. We know first-hand how team sport is enjoyable and important for our development. That's why we have decided to go to Phnom Penh the first weekend of December to run a rugby clinic with KB and participate to their rugby carnival with the local teams (the famous "KB Days").
As part of this initiative, we'll be collecting and bringing second hand sporting gears for the local players. But we want to do more and help KB reach more kids, and that requires funds!
Our challenge, yes we've accepted it , is to travel 2,346 km, the round-trip distance between Singapore and Phnom Penh, by running/walking/swimming/riding/etc. with our friends and family to collect donations for KB as we make our way to Cambodia.
We'll keep you posted on our collective achievements and we thank you in advance for your contribution to this great cause.

A bit more information about Kampuchea Balopp:
Established in 2013, Kampuchea Balopp (KB) is a French-registered association and Cambodian-based sports project which promotes the access of sports to disadvantaged and disabled children. KB is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit organisation.
KB is providing access to sports and group activities in Cambodia on a weekly basis to more than 800 children. KB’s objective is to use sport as a tool of social inclusion and education for children.
KB currently employs 4 Khmer Sports Educators. These coaches receive qualifications in sports education, are given professional development opportunities, and are seen as role-models and mentors for the children they work with. From Monday to Saturday, they lead between 4 and 7 trainings per day in different NGO’s, centres and schools.
KB mainly operates on private donations. It is essential that the association be sustainable in the long term to ensure continuous youth development through sport.
Funds collected are used to finance all aspects of the program including:
- Basic sports equipment (balls, jerseys, shoes, etc.)
- Field rental and maintenance
- Transportation of the children to and from the training grounds
- Educator salaries and training
As reference the average yearly cost of the program is EURO 50 per child.
This is our story!
