Help Us Find a Home After Kidney Disease Turned Our World Upside Down

Hey family,

I never thought I’d be here asking for help, but life hit us with a storm we didn’t see coming. My beloved, Tanesha Thimes, a nurse for over 25 years, was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease on December 25, 2024—yes, on Christmas Day. Everything flipped upside down that day. Since then, it’s been a fight just to keep her going, get her to dialysis, and try to keep a roof over our heads.

We lost our home and have been living in a hotel since March 2025, paying $550 every week just to survive. That’s over $2,200 a month, plus our car note ($700), storage ($135), credit cards, and gas for Beloved’s dialysis trips. We’re paying over $4,000 every month and still stuck in survival mode. Our credit scores have dropped from trying to keep up with it all, making it even harder to get approved for a place.

Now we’ve found a place to call home, but the landlord wants $3,000 to move in—first month’s rent and deposit—and we just don’t have it. Every week it feels like we’re treading water, but we’re ready for stability, ready for home. We just need a little help getting over this hump.
