Tamra is Going to Kick Cancer in the Butt!

Considering the financial obligations that come with being a 28 year old working mom to 4 young children (6, 4, 1, & 1), finding out you have cancer is life altering. This fundraiser is for those that would like to help The Roberts Family during this challenging time while Tamra focuses on rest and recovery after her surgery to remove the section of her colon with the cancerous tumor, along with any other treatments her doctors decide are necessary.

A year ago, Tamra brought up some concerns with her doctor. During that time they ruled out many other causes to her symptoms before moving to more extensive procedures not typically used on someone so young. They found the source of her symptoms - a large mass in her colon, and took a sample for testing. When speaking to her after the procedure, the doctor shared their surprise at finding such a large mass in someone so young. The biopsy came back as precancerous and she was scheduled for surgery with a specialist! The relief was quickly lost, when the surgery ended before anything was removed. This doctor took a look at the tumor and it was quickly decided that the mass was definitely cancerous and much larger than anticipated - blocking half of her colon. They were not prepared for such an extensive surgery. The mass has grown into the muscle and part of her colon will need to be removed. She has had her full body scan, which is thankfully not showing that the cancer has spread to different organs but they will need to wait until surgery to determine if it has spread to her lymph nodes which will help them determine what stage the cancer is in and if chemo and/or radiation are necessary.

Surgery recovery alone, will take 6 weeks, and involve many limitations that are hard for many - especially mothers to toddlers. Funds will be used to cover medical bills and living expenses typically covered by her work earnings.
